May 2019

There is "Grey to Green" work going on around Blonk St. (Routes 6 & 627) Expect blockages and diversions

Despite the Ring Road widening, NCN627 remains open - follow it from the Riverside path from the North and Esteli Parade from the South. At Blonk St, the cycle crossing has been dug up - use the pedestrian crossing at the junction with Furnival Rd instead.


November 2018

The 5 Weirs Walk is open between Stevenson and East Coast roads again.

Also progress has been made with the reinstatement of the cycle path around the Parkway end of Europa link, at the new entrance to what is now Sheffield business Park and Factory 2050. (Old airport)


You can now once again ride uninterrupted on a good surface from the 'tunnel' under the Parkway, over what looks to be an improved crossing of the sliproad off the Parkway, and round to the Wood lane roundabout to cross over on to the roadside cycle route on Europa Way.


August 2018. 



20th August - Endcliffe Vale Rd is now resurfaced. Works continue in the area. 


8th August - Endcliffe Vale Rd (NCN6) is closed for resurfacing. 

The Five Weirs Walk is going to be closed for several weeks in the East Coast Road area. Diversions will be posted and we will put up more information  when we have it. 


April 2018

There's a blockage on NCN67, between High Hazels Park and Europa Way, while development work is taking place on the former airport site. Diversions have been posted but please take care in this area. The flooding shown below has receded! 





February 2017 

Quite a large tree down in Porter Valley, between Hangingwater and Whiteley Wood Rds, blocking NCN6.  FIXED 

November 2016 - FIXED

There is restricted access along the Riverside walk - please give way to pedestrians if cycling.

Carbrook St to Weedon St is still closed - diversion is posted. 

Route alongside Meadowhall Way from the Interchange to Meadowhall South is open again, with the new bridge open to Sheffield Road. 

In Rotherham, the canal path is closed again for lock gate repairs/replacement between Jordan and Holmes locks.It will be closed until 19th of December

August 2016 - FIXED

The  5 Weirs Walk from Warren Street to Attercliffe Rd will be closed from 8/8/2016 for approximately 6 months. A diversion is signed and feedback is that it is easy to follow. 

January 2016 - FIXED

5WW - Carbrook St to Weedon St is still closed

Also Five Weirs walk is going to be closed from Bold St to Don road from 25th Jan for two months.

September 2015 - FIXED

Carbrook St to Weedon St is closed for 16 weeks - diversion is posted. 

Otherwise the Network is open as far as we know. 

April 2015 - FIXED

Cobweb Bridge re-opened on 17th April and the Sheffield Friday Night Ride was able to use it that evening.

Halfpenny Bridge is scheduled to re-open 22nd August. 

February 2015 - FIXED

Cobweb Bridge is closed for long-awaited repairs.

The Halfpenny Bridge (Meadowhall to Rotherham) area is closed - diversion posted

Otherwise the Network is open as far as we know. 



August 2014 - FIXED

Meadowhall -  Five Weirs Walk is open past the Oasis and as far as Meadowhall Way - you will need to cycle on Meadowhall Way to get to Meadowhall South tramstop and the bridge that will get you across to the canal towpath towards Rotherham. 

The Halfpenny Bridge area is due for some work but this hasn't started yet. 

Care is needed on Weedon St due to Bus Rapid Transit work. 

The Cobweb Bridge is due to be closed for repairs but this hasn't started yet. 

All other sections are open and clear for cycling as far as we know.
